Description

Monastic Long Life Ritual Vase: Rare, Empowered, Tibet, 17th Century

This is a Bhumba: A ritual altar vase and blessed water pitcher.

The vase normally hold a spray of peacock feathers symbolizing immunity from life’s poisons.

The water - the nectar of life - is poured from the Dragon’s mouth.

It is the symbol of ‘Long Life’ and it kept on the altar.

Made of brass (or some similar alloy) it is somewhat worn, not unusual given it’s age, but is in good condition. The rare empowerment mantra (prayer) along the base appears to be written in ancient Pali.

Once the bottom was sealed but alas no more.

Size: 7” tall x 6.5 “ across

Weight 2 pounds 15 oz.
